Partners of CA LCC

The California Landscape Conservation Cooperative (CA LCC) is a management-science partnership among agencies, non-governmental organizations, landowners and other entities that informs on-the-ground conservation actions addressing climate change and other stressors within and across landscapes.

Location: Lancaster, California

Partnerships

Working together is the foundation upon which LCCs are being built. Considering today's conservation challenges, no single entity can ensure the sustainability of our nation’s fish and wildlife resources by working independently. LCCs combine the resources and strengths of resource management agencies and science entities from federal, state, and local governments, tribes, universities, non-governmental organizations and landowners. The CA LCC will create stakeholder communities charged with providing scientific and technical support for landscape-scale conservation in an adaptive management framework.

Who is helping now

To assist with the development of the CA LCC, an Interim Steering Committee (ISC) was identified. As the partnership expands, the composition of the steering committee will change. The ISC will be replaced by a permanent organizational structure after the entire geographic scope of the CA LCC has been encompassed. Currently, the ISC is composed of representatives from the following agencies and organizations:

Federal Agencies:
Bureau of Land Management
Bureau of Reclamation
National Park Service
NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service
US Fish and Wildlife Service
US Geological Survey
US Forest Service
State Agencies:
California Resources Agency
California Department of Fish and Game
California Department of Water Resources
Other:
Central Valley Joint Venture
Defenders of Wildlife
Ducks Unlimited
PRBO Conservation Science
The Nature Conservancy
San Francisco Bay Joint Venture
University of California

How you can get Involved

We are looking for interested agencies and organizations who are willing to embrace a new era of interdependence and work together with a set of common conservation goals and shared capacity to conserve and sustain natural ecosystems. Right now, we are working on the formation of the CA LCC. Over the next 12 to 18 months we will seek additional partners who will be integral in its development. We intend to use a variety of methods to inform interested parties of our progress and partner participation.

Here are some ways you can plug into the CA LCC right now:

  • Look for our updates and progress on this webpage
  • Contact your agency's representative
  • Watch for workshops and meetings in your area

As the CA LCC matures and becomes well represented by a variety of partners, so will the evolution of opportunities to engage in activities at a local, regional, and landscape scales. As we move through this journey of development we hope to progress in a swift but deliberate pace. We are certain to change .........so, stay tuned!
